Blogmas day 15! (Making Hard Candy.)

Hello darlings! Back with my latest thing! Today I am going to be sharing with you another fun holiday tradition! Making hard candy. I have made hard candy with my family for years and it is so fun! This year though, we made it in the microwave!!! It was so simple and a lot faster! This is such a fun thing to do with family and it also makes a great gift to hand out! So today I am going to be walking you through how to do it! Here is everything you will need.

Corn Syrup

A tempered glass-measuring cup (get a PYREX one)

Aluminum foil

A cookie sheet

Cooking spray

Candy Flavoring

Powdered sugar

Food coloring

Plastic wrap

Pizza cutter

You can find candy flavoring at any local drug store. LorAnn Oils is the most popular flavor company. They come in very tiny bottle. They are actually called drams. You are also going to want to pick up food coloring to dye your candy!

Okay so here is how you make it.

First you want to get your pan ready. Lay down a piece of aluminum foil and spray it all over with cooking spray

Then in the measuring cup combine 1 cup of sugar and ½ a cup of corn syrup. Then you want to stir to combine. Cover the measuring cup with plastic wrap and microwave for 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Then take the mixture out of the microwave very carefully. It will be extremely hot. Stir the mixture, recover, and place back in the microwave for another 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Once you take it out of the microwave you want to wait a few seconds for it to stop boiling. Once it has stopped boiling you want to pour half a dram of your flavor and add in the food coloring you want. Then stir the mixture. Once everything is combined you want to pour the mixture onto the foil that has been greased. Once you have it all poured onto the sheet you want to lift up each side of the foil and bring the candy to the middle so it creates a thicker layer.

Let your mixture cool for a couple of minutes. Then you want to take your pizza cutter and score the candy. Do a trial run first. Score a piece and if it doesn’t run back together you are ready to score the whole sheet. Once you have scored the whole sheet of candy let it cool completely. Once it has cooled you are ready to break it apart. It will snap apart very easily. Throw it in a container and toss with powdered sugar so it doesn’t stick together. Now you are ready to enjoy!

I hope you all try to make this! You wont regret it! Thanks for reading!

Until my next latest thing-Laura
